A great place for one day trek. It's a bit stiff climbing but overall a small trekk and easy difficulty.
The view is great! Watching those mountains layered behind each other makes it looks like you are in a painting.
You can go there from Palghar station by bus or auto as your convenience.
I enjoyed a lot, this time some new beginner were with me they too enjoyed a lot. Beautiful scenery, clean and easy to climb, for beginners first 20 minutes is very difficult but rest they will enjoy.
Very Easy Treking trail in Palghar district at Waghoba Khind on Palghar-Manor road. From Mumbai you can reach nearest Station Palghar on Western Railway and then take any public transport for Waghoba Khind. Hardly 1 hour required to reach the top from base. It's Biginner level trail. Toilet facility not available here, also no restaurant /Hotels available at base.
कालदुर्ग किल्ला पालघर, महाराष्ट्र | Kaldurg Fort trek Palghar Maharashtra
- Kaldurg Fort Height of 1500 feet
- Trek Grade Medium
- Trek duration 1/1.30 hrs from base location one way
- Fort Region - Palghar region
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- There is only one route to reach this fort.
- We started our trek from Waghoba Khind/ Waghoba temple.
- The parking was free & had a good parking area near the roadside.
- There are lots of monkeys at Vaghoba temple. Be careful, do not keep any food in your hand.
- Take care of your bike and cars. Monkeys scratch seat covers, break antennae, or anything.
- Go early as possible around 6:30-7:00 am. The crowd increases after 9-10 am.
- No food and water is available during the trek or at the top so please carry lots of water bottles & food as well.
- There are water tanks on the top.
- Please don't throw any garbage during the trek
Overall the trek is a beautiful experience that makes for wonderful memories.
Amazing place for trekking. Must visit!!!
-3 stars which I have given are not for location but these are to the irresponsible mentality of people towards mother nature & this fort…
-People generally visit this fort in monsoon or on weekends…& leave traces of their irresponsible attitude…
-Whole trekking route one can observe plastic wastes, plastic packets, paper plates etc etc
-Let me clear one thing…these historic places are NOT THE PICNIC SPOTS…
-Apart from monsoon in other seasons fort is not that crowded
- Trek route starts from Waghoba temple which is at the base of the fort…
History:-
- Kaldurga fort was strategically highly important at that time…
From mughals the authority got transferred to portuguese rulers. This fort served as a watch tower to keep close eye on nearby area along with the trade that used to be carried out through Surya river route which is adjacent to this fort.
by defeating portuguese Marathas won this fort in 1683 under the rule of geat maratha king chhatrapati shambhuraje, but shortly portuguese won it back.During the vasai mission which was started in 1739 by Great maratha leader chimaji appa, peshwas won this fort again from portuguese people & established their rule & trade in palghar region. Eventually in 1818 British won this fort & it was under British rule till the freedom.
Humble Request :-
-These are the monuments of our rich history & not the picnic spots…
-Stop playing unwanted bollywood or other songs on mobile or speaker durig hike…
-Eating, drinking on forts & leaving plastic wastes, bags , plates, bottles there only is absolutely pathetic …
- Be responsible & proud citizens & humble request to the government to install the board at the entrance of waghoba temple itself ,which mentions to follow the rules & other information regarding fort…
Kaldurg trek starts from Waghoba Temple in Palghar region. You'll easily get a bus or tum-tum from Palghar Station to reach Waghoba temple. At the temple you'll find a lot of monkeys. Refreshments are available too. The trek is pretty easy and good for beginners. The view from top is stunning, you get to see the ghats, few dams and the surrounding mountain range. There are few water tankas on the top. Like any other trek, best time to visit would be Monsoons.
Trekking experience like adventure is awesome and plus there view look like heaven full of peace 🙌🏻🔥✨
The difficulty level of the Kaldurg fort trek is medium. Beginners can do this trek. I will say go for it enjoy the beautiful view and trekking journey.
